Trying New Things

It's been an exciting week for Brandon. At just 15 weeks old, he's starting to roll over (totally normal for a 15 week old baby). Much to his mommy's surprise, Brandon can roll over on to his left side whenever he feels like it. Actually it seems like his new party trick because he tries to roll over every chance he gets - in his crib, on his change table, in his swing . . . he's not picky!
Brandon is also trying to grab his toys. This is a huge developmental change over last week when he just stared at them. He's not co-ordinated enough to grab toys at will but he's definitely reaching for his toys and can easily hold on to them with help from Mommy.
He also seems to have discovered that people and things are separate from him. He's interested in everything and everyone. He likes to watch the cats, other babies and kids, the TV . . . everything!
It's so fun to watch him progress and adapt to the world. I can't wait to see what he's up to next week :)

Three Months Old Today!

Three months already! Where does the time go?
Brandon now weighs a whopping 12.9 lbs and is 23 inches long. I swear he changes every day so here's a list of what he likes to do now.
His favourite thing in the whole world is his crib mobile. It plays a lullaby, spins around and has little elephants and lions on it. Brandon goes nuts for it every time. He always has a smile for his mobile. Mommy and Daddy have learned to use it to their advantage. When Brandon cries because he's getting his onesie put on, we just stick him under the mobile and all is right with the world again.
Brandon was given a "Whoozit" toy by someone and that toy is like magic. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's like this round rattle stuffie with a happy face on it. Brandon thinks it's the funniest thing he's ever seen. He loves it.
Lights are really fascinating for Brandon right now. If he spots a good light, he can stare at it for hours :)
His number one priority is still feeding but at least he's hungry every 3 to 4 hours now (much better than last months 2 to 3 hours). He goes to bed at 8pm and after waking up several times in the night, he's up for good at 7:30am. He usually naps for 2 hours in the morning and will only cat nap in the afternoons.
He's starting to vocalize in a conversational kind of way. He gets shy around the camera but once I catch it, I'll post it here for everyone to enjoy :)

With Much Thanks

Jamie and I are blessed to be surrounded by wonderful friends and family. When Brandon was born, we received so many thoughtful and beautiful gifts that I feel inspired to blog about it. Some of the gifts were incredibly useful. Like the crib and change table ours friends France and Justin gave us. Or like all the clothes and blankets we received - some even hand-made! Some gifts were really fun. Like bath toys, teething toys and books. And some gifts were even unique. My cousin Marcus crafted a toy airplane and a rattle out of wood. Our friends in Kelowna sent us a personalized piece of art with Brandon's name on it and some friends here in Calgary gave us "the 2009 toy of the year". A stuffed giraffe that can be used as a pillow and stores a blanket inside.
We received so many presents for our little boy that it would take a whole page to list them all. I'm touched by the people who sent Brandon presents and they've never even met me before (like Sylvie's sister)! Jamie and I are so grateful for every gift we received. It's nice to know how welcome Brandon is in the world.
Many thanks from my heart ~ Jenni
