New Addition

Yesterday Jamie and I welcomed a new member to the family - a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. A beautiful "compact utility vehicle" to see us through (I hope) the next five years of family driving.
My search for a new car began around Christmas time. About the same time when Jamie and I learned the Subaru would need about $3000 worth of engine repairs. Add to this the cost of a new windshield and some new tires and I couldn't quite get excited about keeping my aging, rusting Outback on the road.
I let my fingers do all the work as I hit the internet in search of my new car. I decided the car would have to be safe (a 5 star safety rating), good on gas, AWD, a hatchback (for the stroller) and tall so that I could easily get Brandon in and out of his car seat. It also had to be under $30,000. It really didn't take long for me to narrow the search down to a Hyundai. With 0% financing, I was really interested.
Jamie and I tested the Tucson and the Santa Fe and though the Tucson was a great little CUV, we felt we needed the bigger Santa Fe to accommodate our growing boy. We made the deal on Feb 10th and we picked it up from the dealership yesterday afternoon. I said good-bye to the Subaru without much sadness - though I did say "Thank you bringing my baby safely home from the hospital" - and skipped over to my new car. Oh it was so beautiful. The sun was shining and it sparkled like only a new car with 10 kms can!
We felt we owed it to ourselves to give it a little test run. This morning we drove it to Canmore and enjoyed brunch in the Rockies. The car was so much fun to drive and so quiet that Brandon fell asleep in it - twice!
Here's some pics of my new "Mommy Moblie". I'm such a big girl now :)

15 Months Old - Last Thursday!

Wow we've had a busy week, so here I am - a little bit late on the blog.
On Thursday Brandon turned 15 months old and I marvel at how time continues to pass by at excessive rates!
The biggest news with Brandon is that he's a little walker now. He gets up from where ever he is and just teeters away. He's very proud of his new found mobility and can often be seen walking around with a huge smile on his face. He's also tried running but it's not going so well for him just yet.
More big news is that he's down to one nap a day. This is great for mommy and daddy as now we can get stuff done in the mornings AND the afternoons. Perfect!
Brandon continues to eat really well. His health has been good and therefor he's been in very good spirits. He loves to dance and chase the cats with his walker. He loves to play with trucks and continues to press every button he can, open any drawer he can and flush the toilet at every opportunity.
He's very social and his calendar keeps us busy with weekend playgroups and birthday parties. We're hoping to get him back into swimming lessons soon and I can't wait for the weather to get better so we can start playing outside.
Jamie and I just bought a new car so I'm hoping we can plan a little family holiday in the mountains soon. Wouldn't that be great?!

Too Busy to Blog

Isn't that crazy! Is this what my life has become? No time for the stuff I used to really enjoy - like posting on the blog.
This is kind of how a typical week day goes for us now:
5:30AM - Jamie up. Gets ready for work
6:10AM - Jamie gone to work
6:15AM - Jenni up. Gets ready for work
6:55AM - Brandon wakes up. He gets changed, dressed and a sippy cup of milk
7:30AM - Jenni and Brandon out the door. Brandon dropped off at day care
8:40AM - Jenni arrives at office
3:30PM - Jamie is off work. Goes to pick up Brandon
4:00PM - Jamie and Brandon home. They play and make dinner
6:00PM - Jenni home. Eat dinner with Jamie and Brandon
6:30PM - Brandon goes for a bath
7:00PM - Brandon gets a sippy of milk
7:30PM - Brandon to bed
9:30PM - Jenni and Jamie to bed
Repeat for the rest of the week.
Somewhere in there we get groceries, throw in the laundry, pay the bills, etc etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about our life I'm just surprised at how little time in the day there actually is.
I miss spending time with Brandon. I miss mat leave. I miss hanging out with my mom friends. I guess my adjustment back to work is going to take longer than I thought.
