Gettin' My Drool On

A couple of weeks ago I was getting suspicious that Brandon may be cutting a tooth. This was confirmed by the public health nurse who said he was definitely showing some signs of it: drooling, chewing on fingers and toys, fussiness and pink cheeks. She warned me that babies first teeth can sometimes come to the surface and then retreat back into the gum. I think this is what may be happening to Brandon now.
We have no teeth to show for his efforts but here's a couple of pictures showing Brandon's teething "signs".

Time With Family

For the most part, Jamie and I enjoy living in Calgary. We have a beautiful house, great friends and good jobs here. What's missing though is family. We have no relatives that live any where near Calgary or even Alberta for that matter. So when family does come to visit, it's a real treat for all if us - especially Brandon.
At the end of February, my parents came out for a visit. Dad had to do some work in Lethbridge but Mom came along and stayed with us for a week. It was so nice to see them and of course, get an extra helping hand with the baby!
Here's some pics of Brandon enjoying his grandparents company :)

Four Months Old Today!

Brandon went for his vaccinations today so I know his weight is 14.9 lbs and he's 24.4 inches long! Apparently this is completely average for someone who is four months old. Speaking of being four months old, Brandon has been developing at a pretty quick pace. He's very busy grabbing toys and putting them in his mouth. Well at least he tries to get them in his mouth . . . sometimes he misses and the toy will hit his forehead.
Mommy is a little suspicious that Brandon may be cutting a tooth. Though early, the health nurse tells me it's entirely possible. He's been drooling a lot, shoving his hands/toys into his mouth and he's been more fussy than usual these past few days.
So Brandon's new favourite things include a little butterfly toy that lights up and laughs and a french song that his Daddy sings to him. He still likes his baths and his "Whoozits" toy but the crib mobile doesn't do much for him anymore.
Brandon is feeding about every 4 hours and bedtime is around 7PM. The new early bedtime is cool but it means he's wide awake at 6:30AM.
This next month should be pretty exciting for Brandon as he's going to try swimming at the local pool! He's also going to start salsa dancing with Mommy on Tuesdays. Should be lots of fun :)

The Joy of Jumping

When Brandon was born, his grand papa sent money for us to buy him whatever he needed. I'm not sure that Brandon needed a jumperoo but that's what I ended up buying him. The instructions for the jumperoo state that a baby must be able to hold up his head before he can use the toy. Brandon has always had good head control so I decided to put him in the jumperoo.
At first he seemed a bit overwhelmed by all the toys and lights and he really didn't know what to do. But I put him in it each day for a few minutes at a time and now he seems to really enjoy it. He hasn't mastered that art of "jumping" in it but he can bounce around and play with the toys. It's pretty cute stuff so I've posted some pictures here :)
