Easter Weekend

Jamie and I are fortunate to work for companies that give us both Friday and Monday off for Easter weekend. This meant lots of family time with our little boy.
We really didn't get to up anything very exciting. Brandon and Jamie went swimming on Friday while me and my boy enjoyed the beautiful Spring weather with a walk to the playground on Saturday. On Saturday evening we were joined by the Finnigan's for a hearty apple-butter ham feast. Brandon loved playing with Joseph and Julie while the guys watched Montreal lose to Boston in the playoffs.
On Sunday morning Brandon was excited to see the Easter Bunny had brought him a basket full of goodies. He got two toys trucks, a Thomas the Train colouring book, washable crayons and a cute little lamb stuffie that mommy can heat up in the event that he's not feeling well. The crayons turned out to be the biggest hit - we're already missing two of them. After presents we all sat down for a delicious breakfast of banana chocolate-chip pancakes before hitting the mall. Yipee! More stuff for Brandon :)
Our beautiful weather continued so we headed to the park on Monday morning to feed the ducks and play on the swings. Brandon just loves to run and run and run so that's what we let him do. All that running made him pretty tired so he's down for a nap as I type this.
All-in-all we a had wonderful weekend spending time as a family and doing things together. The little ones really do grow fast so I've learned to appreciate the time we are given - whether it's singing in the car, strolling in the park or sharing a meal together. My family is the most precious thing to me so if I wasn't grateful before, I sure am now for all of my long weekends :)

17 Months Old!

I have a picture on my desktop of Brandon when he was about 8 months old. It's a beautiful photo of a happy, pudgy baby. He's sitting up with a sweet toothless grin on his face. His hair is very fair and thin. He's holding up his hands like he used to do when he was excited about something. I love that photo.
Jamie happened to walk by the other day and see my desktop photo. He said "Wow, our boy sure doesn't look like that anymore". I thought about this and realized he's right. At 17 months Brandon has lost a lot of his baby looks. His face is longer and thinner. His hair has darkened and grown in thicker. He has a total of 11 teeth now and his eyes have seem to have decided they will be hazel green. Still beautiful to me, I'm starting to see how he might look as a young boy.
And what a boy he is! I call him "Brandon the Destroyer" because he often likes to throw things or take things apart just to see if he can put them back together. He still loves to play with mega blocks (he builds towers just so he can knock them down) and push toy cars around. His favourite word right now is "Truck" only he pronounces it like "Cruck" and when we're driving in the car he likes to point out every "cruck" he sees.
As a toddler he's busy from sunup to sundown and, at times, I feel like I don't really get to see him so much as chase after him. I look at my baby Brandon picture and I realize just how much he's grown in these past nine months. I wish time would slow down a little bit but I know it won't so maybe I should  update my desktop with a new photo. A picture of my busy toddler who refuses to smile for the camera now. At the rate he's growing though, it will be out-dated by tomorrow :)
