The Graduate . . .

Well, sort of. Brandon and I graduated from Salsa Babies Level 1 on Tuesday! After 8 weeks of shaking our butts to the Latin beat, we're officially "in the know" when it comes to dancing the Cha Cha and Salsa. We had a lot of fun and met some pretty cool moms and babes. Will we advance to Level 2? That remains to be seen. I want to expose Brandon to all sorts of activities so Latin dancing may have to wait until next Fall. Until then - hasta la vista babies!

National Traveller

Brandon and I just returned from a nine day visit to the beautiful city of Victoria, B.C. Much to my relief, Brandon is a wonderful traveller! He never made a fuss on the plane and actually seemed to enjoy the airport and all the goings-on there. When it came to staying at my parents house - he never missed a beat. He slept, ate and played like he was right at home.
We were very busy while on our trip. Not only did Brandon meet his great grandmother, he also met his aunt and uncle and all of his cousins (first and second included) on my side. Everyone was so happy to meet Brandon and I was proud to show him off. He was such a good boy and he smiled for everyone.
While in Victoria we did a bit of site-seeing. We visited the Butchart Gardens and the town of Sidney. We went shopping and went out for lunch. We went for walks, we went swimming and even visited a petting zoo. All-in-all it was a wonderful trip. It was a really great experience for Brandon's first adventure outside of Calgary. We miss the family already and look forward to the time when we can head back to the island. Thanks to everyone who made our trip to Victoria so pleasant!

Five Months Old Today!

April 10th - Brandon is five months old today! And what a big boy he's getting to be. At almost 16 lbs and over 26 inches, Brandon officially falls into the "big baby" category. He's still only eating breast milk and formula but this month he's going to try rice cereal as his first foray into solid foods! He also now sits in his highchair at dinnertime - just to get a feel for it.
Speaking of firsts, Brandon is enrolled in swimming lessons. Daddy and Brandon go to "Little Dippers" on Saturday mornings. Brandon is not entirely sure of the whole thing but he looks cute in his little swim suit none-the-less.
Brandon is enjoying his Salsa Babies class. He doesn't mind being in the carrier and he seems to really like the Latin beat. He gets to shake a little maraca while Mommy dances the baby fat away!
Brandon is not quite rolling all the way over yet. He's also not sitting up on his own but he practices both skills every day.
Brandon's favorite things include playing in his Jumperoo, bath time, and seeing his little friends every week at playgroup. His dislikes include daytime naps and shopping (much to Mommy's disappointment on both counts). We recently tried going to a movie - Alice in Wonderland - and he really didn't care for that either. We'll try again in a few more years.
Overall Brandon is a really good baby and he's an absolute joy to have around. Mostly he's very happy and loves to observe everything. He never fails to put a smile on our faces. I can't wait to introduce him to my side of the family in Victoria next week. My next post might include a blurb on how much Brandon likes or dislikes airplanes so stay tuned for that one! ;)

Happy Easter!

For his first Easter, Brandon had a wonderful day.
After sleeping pretty well the night before, Brandon got up around 8AM to see what the Easter bunny had brought him. To his delight it was "Sophie" - the chewable, loveable giraffe toy that all his friends seem to have!
After playing with Sophie and having a nap, Brandon got all dressed up and we headed to Justin and France's house for Easter dinner. It was a big crowd of people as Tina & Charles were there (visiting from New Brunswick), as well as Jason & Sara and France's folks. Dinner was fabulous and Brandon enjoyed hanging out with all the ladies ;) He fell asleep on the car ride home and Mom & Dad considered it a great first Easter for their little boy!
