At 27 months Brandon is busy talking up a storm. He has no internal dialogue yet so we get to hear exactly what he's thinking the moment it pops into his head. Mostly he says the word for whatever object is right in front of him - Daddy's hat, Mommy's truck - but sometimes you can tell he's been thinking about things. Like this morning he asked "Mommy I go Linda's house?"
If he's awake, he usually has a constant stream of chatter going. For only being a little past the age of two, he pronounces words quite well. He does have a few quirky words though and I thought I'd share some of my favourites.
"Dutes" - this is Brandon's word for Boots. I love this one!
"Wawee" - His favourite movie right now is "Wall-e" and he'll ask for it all the time
"Nolk" - this is Milk
"Coo-coo" - he'll say this for both Owls and Clocks (I think Linda must have a coo-coo clock)
"Boof" - this is Juice believe it or not
"Bess" - is what he says when he sees a Bus
"Cone" - I love this one too. Here he's talking about the Phone
"Papple" - is for Apple
"Nanas" - is Banana
"Kickin" - is Chicken
"Wankie" - is Blanket or "Blankie" in this case
"Bubbles" - he says this word just fine but he's talking about having a bath
"Doned" - he has a habit of throwing a "d" on the end of a lot of words. So he'll say "it's doned" or "it's all goned"
"Dye Dye" - for Bye Bye
Something he's very good at saying - and he'll say it often - is "It's mine, not yours". In fact he even told me the house was his and not mine. Hmm . . .
He cracks me up when he says "What's going on?" and being a curious boy he still asks "What's this?" on a regular basis.
His manners are pretty good. He says "please" and "thanks" (I don't know what happened here because I tried to teach him "Thank you") and if he passes gas he says "I toot!"
Up until very recently I had never heard Brandon say his own name. So one day I asked him "Can you say 'Brandon'" and he said it perfectly, like he's been saying it for years :)
The best thing I ever heard Brandon say happened about a week ago. I dropped him off at Linda's and was saying good-bye. I told him I loved him and I would see him later. That's when he said "I wuv you Mommy". I felt like I had waited 26 and half months to hear him say that and you know what? it was totally worth the wait!
